Lights Spectacular Hill Country Style will twinkle every night from dusk to midnight. 

 

Opening Weekend - Friday November 25 – Saturday November 26

 

Friday, November 25th - Opening Night!  The lighting of the Blanco Courthouse will be at dusk, followed by a fireworks display.  In addition, there will be a street dance on the courthouse square along with a food court provided by local nonprofit organizations, wine and beer booths at Rudolph’s Cantina, ornament sales in the courthouse, activities for the kids of all ages, and an expansive Holiday Market put on by the JC Chamber of Commerce. 

The market will open at noon and continue through 10:00 pm.

Santa and Mrs. Claus at Memorial Park from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Friday, November 25 - The Pedernales Electric Cooperative (PEC) will illuminate its Johnson City Headquarters again this year. More than 1.3 million LED bulbs will light up PEC’s campus during the holidays. The lights will turn on Friday, November  25, at 6:00  p.m., and will shine from 6:00 p.m. to Midnight every night through Sunday, Jan. 8.

Friday, November 25 - The Science Mill will be open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Special during the week:  “Spectacular Science of Light” to coincide with the Light Spectacular – activities for families to explore light, energy and lasers – circuit ornaments, glow light experiments, and luminescence activities.

 

Saturday, November 26th - The Clickety Cloggers will preform at 5:30pm in front of the courthouse. The Lighted Hooves and Wheels Parade begins at 6:30pm with a lighted float contest. The holiday market will be open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.  Rudolph’s Cantina and the food court will be open at 5:00 pm.  Ornament sale will be going on in the courthouse all day. 

 

Saturday , November 26 - Lamplight Tours at LBJ Boyhood Home will be conducted from 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.  The chuckwagon will be on the grounds for viewing. 

Saturday , November 26  - The Science Mill will be open from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Weekends beginning November  26 - Throughout the festival (weather permitting), visitors can hitch a ride on a tractor-pulled hayride offered by the Johnson City Antique Tractor and Engine Club (by donation).  Starting December 16th - January 1st hayrides will be available nightly, weather permitting. 

Carriage rides will be available during the season. Friday & Saturday – December 2 & December 3 - Living Nativity First Methodist Church Ave G from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm  Performances run every 30 min rain or shine.

 

Friday & Saturday – December 2 & December 3 - Santa at the gazebo at Memorial Park 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday,  December 10  - Lights Spectacular Scholarship Chili Cook Off on the courthouse square.  - Judging at 4:00 pm, Awards at 6:00 pm,  Street Dance at 8:00 pm.  Do you have a winning chili recipe ?  Enter today!  Entry fee is $25.00 categories are beef, exotic, and bean.

Sunday, December 18 - Celebration of Lady Bird Johnson's 110th Birthday - 2:00 pm at the Courthouse Square. Join for us for birthday cake and a rededication of the trees at the courthouse. 

Sunday, December 18 - Deaf Santa & Mrs. Clause along with an interpreter Elf will be at the gazebo at Memorial Park from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm 

Lights Spectacular Lighting Contest

Thursday, December 15 - Wednesday,  December 21 -  Residents of Johnson City are encouraged to help capture the Christmas spirit and decorate their homes and places of business to participate in the annual Lights Spectacular Decorating Contest. Categories for this year are residential lighting, residential inflatable and   business lighting.  Applications are due by Wednesday, December 14.  Application Form
